John M. Peckham, III, Executive Director of the Real Estate CyberSpace Society released excerpts today from the Society's February audio/print member briefing, Real Estate CyberSpace Alert. In three taped interviews, well known real estate educators Michael Russer, Skip Weber and Joeann Fossland inform Society members about their options for obtaining the high-tech high touch skills necessary to survive and prosper in the Internet economy.

In the lead interview, "Mr. Internet," Michael Russer, identifies the new breed of Internet-empowered consumers (IECs) and explains how and why they differ from traditional consumers. "They're essentially invulnerable," he declares. "Creating a relationship with IECs is a powerful concept." Russer advises agents on specialized strategies to reach this challenging group, including practical tips from his two latest technology books. Industry-wide, he sees transaction management as an on-going hot trend that is currently being pursued by at least a dozen vendors. "The industry cannot support that many players. I expect consolidation down to two or three in the next three years," he says. Russer identifies the top three contenders in transaction and consumer relations management, and tells who is leading the pack.

In the second Alert interview, Skip Weber, President of Realty U, gives members a preview of the newly revised "Selling in CyberSpace" seminar, developed in strategic alliance with the Real Estate CyberSpace Society as the certification course for the Society's RECS designation (Real Estate CyberSpace Specialist). It will be offered through the 30 Realty U affiliate real estate schools across the U.S. and Canada beginning on March first. The two-day, program concentrates on three basic skill areas-web power, searching power and e-mail power-plus, it prepares students to take full advantage of the Real Estate CyberSpace Society's tools and services. "The Society has a tremendous number of benefits. It would be very improper for us not to go through them in a way that would be productive for the people who participate in the class," Weber declares. He emphasizes "the "AfterCare" Program, included in the course tuition, makes the course unique in the industry." The "AfterCare" Program includes a full 12-month membership in the Real Estate CyberSpace Society along with all the Society tools and services without any extra cost. "Combine this with the extensive course content and the RECS designation and you are looking at the most important connectivity course available today", Weber concluded.

In the wrap-up member briefing, Joeann Fossland, President of Advantage Solutions Group, shares tips for successful Internet marketing gleaned from her experience as a Realtor, instructor and personal coach. She outlines what Internet real estate consumers expect and how to avoid some of the pitfalls in marketing to them. Fossland goes into detail about the most useful tools, techniques and software for agents now and in the future. "Always remember that technology is a tool," she warns. "It does not replace the need for a personal relationship with a customer", but she explains how it can be used to build one. "One of the greatest challenges for real estate pros is to keep up with rapid technological change." Fossland predicts: "the agents who are willing to keep growing and willing to give up what made them successful last year for an entirely new way of connecting with the public are going to be most successful."

The Real Estate CyberSpace Society provides its 3000 members in 80 Chapters with information on real estate technology issues and strategies and a networking connection for professionals from all real estate specialties. Peckham announced that over 70 similar interviews are broadcast at the Society's "Real Estate CyberSpace Radio": He invited the real estate community and the public to visit and listen to a wide selection of audio briefings there.
