John M. Peckham, III, Executive Director of the Real Estate Cyberspace Society released excerpts today from the Society's August audio/print member briefing, Real Estate Cyberspace Alert. In three broadcast interviews, Dr. Mark Levine, Alan Daniels, Chris Crane and Wally Papciak guide Real Estate professionals of all specialties to key web site resources for boosting business and working smarter.

In the lead interview, Dr. Mark Lee Levine, founder of the acclaimed "Global Real Estate Project," introduces the University of Denver's highly usable web site as a valuable reference tool for international Real Estate research. When doing business internationally, understanding the background of a country is crucial. "We offer Realtors and their clients a convenient, single source of information," he emphasizes. "Deals can be lost if clients are offended, even if the offense is unintentional. Subtle matters can influence a business relationship." Dr. Levine outlines the wide range of information available on more than 85 countries and details the practical importance the information can have on the real estate practitioner's success in conducting and closing business around the world.

The second Alert interview, features Alan F. Daniels, the visionary behind the products and services available through "The site provides an end-to-end solution for the industry and a faster, cheaper, more efficient connection with the consumer looking to initiate a Real Estate transaction online." Though is consumer-driven in many respects, Daniels walks Society members through the array of tools on the site that are designed to inform the consumer while generating transactions for Realtors and lenders. He even explains how elements of can be used to enhance a real estate agent's own web page. The mortgage process is likely to soon go from beginning to end online, but Daniels foresees the Realtor's work offline continuing to be vital. However, he encourages the entire industry to recognize the Internet as a tool to make the Real Estate process more efficient and as a critical source for the origination of transactions.

In the wrap-up member briefing, the dynamic duo of Christopher A. Crane, Chairman/CEO and Wally Papciak, EVP, reveal how and why COMPS.COM, Inc. has become a dominant player in the realm of Commercial Real Estate. According to Crane, "Commercial brokers need to provide more value-added services for clients in less time than ever before." He goes on to itemize the productivity tools available from COMPS.COM to help brokers, lenders and appraisers meet that challenge. Papciak details their innovative "DealPoint" commercial listing service, opened to the national market earlier this year. They explain how their strategy of expanding through acquisitions and mergers - such as the recent acquisition of REALBID -- will continue to keep COMPS.COM on the cutting edge. Crane sums up their plan for the future: "We intend to invest heavily in technology to leverage the productivity tools we can offer Commercial brokers, lenders and appraisers to help them be more efficient and to make more money in the marketplace."
