Real Estate CyberSpace Radio (RECR) today released excerpts from their February briefings. In three interviews, Matthew Ferrara, Margaret Rome, and PJ Babcock approach the challenge of how real estate professionals can work more efficiently. From their very different perspectives, they recommend to Real Estate CyberSpace Society members a variety of realistic solutions for saving time and effort without compromising top-notch service.
In the lead briefing, national cyber trainer Matthew Ferrara emphasizes how real estate technology is becoming ever more practical. "The technology industry has had to get real in terms of real return on investment. That's been great for brokerages…and individual agents for better productivity," he says. However, Ferrara also observes that the gap remains surprisingly large between the real estate professionals who are really doing the business and the rest of the agent population. He recommends ways for Society members to stay in the high-producing group, including strategies for leveraging a web site by direct online marketing. Ferrara focuses considerable attention on ways to solve the need for prompt and efficient tech support. As technology has become simpler to use, it is now more deeply integrated into real estate activities. Ferrara explains how the productivity curve has shifted emphasis from selecting and mastering tech tools to the new key priority of keeping them operating.
The second briefing is with Margaret Rome, who single-handedly maintains a successful, high-service real estate business while averaging a week a month off. Her independent style is an interesting contrast to the popular team approach. Rome credits the Society with giving her the technological know-how that allows her to compete on her own terms. She shares her secrets for personal productivity, describing in detail her innovative ways of working with clients from any location. Through her creative use of her web site, she is able to leverage her business into the buyers' side while maintaining her preference for working with sellers. Rome identifies her favorite hardware and software tools as well as her favorite online services and resources. According to Rome, "We all have to find our niche. My niche is that I'd rather do what I do best and do less of it than…be a mega agent."
In the wrap-up briefing, PJ Babcock, CEO of Virtual Training Center, discusses two vital topics for real estate productivity-real estate virtual assistants (REVAs) and the Society's new, free SettlementRoom Express transaction platform. Babcock presents an overview of what REVAs can do, resources for finding them and how real estate professionals can best take advantage of all REVAs have to offer. She notes, "Virtual assistants are as valuable to new agents as they are to established, top producers." Her advice applies to working with independent REVAs as well as with a service company such as her own. Babcock also addresses the Society's new alliance with Virtual Training Center to deliver practical, crash courses on real estate business skills. The first such live, low-cost online training course will focus on how and why to use SettlementRoom Express. Babcock tells members how to sign up to become a 60-minute SettlementRoom wiz.
