One of my most interesting chores as Executive Director of the Real Estate CyberSpace Society is to interview very exciting players on the real estate CyberSpace scene. I would like to share here some key excerpts from the latest issue of the Societys bi-monthly print/audio member briefing, Real Estate Cyberspace Alert". The three featured taped interviews with real estate professionals and technological visionaries, Tom Dooley, Ron Rothenberg and David Weissman all share a common focus on coping with CyberSpace challenges now and well into the next decade.

In the lead briefing, Tom Dooley, futurist author and CEO of TWD & Associates, ranks technology and cyberspace as the most profound Real Estate trend ever, unique in its impact all the way down to the level of consumers. Looking out to 2005, he sees a pattern of dominance by national players, but he tells why and how Real Estate managers and individual Realtors can maintain a viable role in a transformed industry. "The successful Agent of the future...realizes that tools are there to be used," he says. "Certainly Cyberspace is a great tool, but the Agent still must be a craftsman and use that tool effectively."

In the second Alert briefing, Buyer Agent and software expert Ron Rothenberg introduced Society members to cutting edge devices and software that can be immediately applied to save Real Estate professionals time and money. According to Rothenberg, increased automation can be most helpful in streamlining the labor- intensive, paperwork aspects of the business. "Theres a lesson there for Real Estate n with the right tools, you can get your clients to do a lot of your hard work for n you."

In the wrap up member briefing, David Weissman, a principle of REdirect, an Internet service company for the commercial Real Estate industry, wraps up with a practical focus on how Real Estate professionals can coordinate e-mail and web page efforts. He enumerated which emerging high-tech techniques will become the common tools for future deal making and lists ways to make a Real Estate web page effective. Commenting on the future, Weissman says, " The relationship aspect [of RE transactions] will be much stronger." The successful players will be those who use technology to better serve their clients.
