Bud Smith, executive Vice President of the National Association of Realtors, the nation's largest professional association representing nearly 730,000 members involved in all aspects of the real estate industry. Bud is more than 29 years of experience within the National Association of Realtors. Prior to becoming NAR's Executive Vice President in November 1991, he was executive officer of the Ohio Association of Realtors for more than 13 years. From 1970-1978, he was executive officer for the Cleveland area board of realtors and from 1967-1970, he served as executive officer of the Cincinnati board of Realtors.Among Bud's many NAR committee assignments, he served on the National Association of Realtors's executive officers committee. He was the national chairman and he served on the NAR's executive committee in 1983 and 1984 and on its prestigious strategic planning committee. Bud has authored numerous publications on association management and housing issues and is a frequent speaker and teacher on these topics. He was honored as the William R. Taylor lecturer on Association Management by the Tennessee Society of Association Executives in 1988.Bud holds the professional designations of Realtor Association Certified Executive (RCE) and a Certified Association Executive (CAE), and Certified Meeting Planner (CMP). Bud has a bachelor of science in commerce degree from the University of Cincinnati, a Masters of Business Administration degree from Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, Florida and a doctorate in Business Administration from Nova University in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Bud and his wife, Barbara have three grown children, Michael, Carrie and Kelly and two grandchildren, Taylor Ann, and Erin.
